This site is dedicated to those stalwarts who have, over the past
twenty-one years, joined with the F.A.R.T. Crew and enjoyed the
annual pilgrimage to the annual extravaganza that occurs at the
Circuit de 24 Heures in June. Our intention is to
celebrate the best motor racing experience in the world but not
forgetting that it is also a great weekend for those whose
interest is more concerned with a unique social weekend than
being an obsessive petrol head.
Over the years we have experienced the Group C cars of Jaguar
and Mercedes battling it out and the period with the Japanese
manufacturers challenging with varying degrees of success, plus
the subsequent move toward the challenges of the GT and GTS
classes such as Panoz and Chrysler. More recently we have
witnessed the rise and further rise of the oil burners to the
point that the regs need modifying to maintain some element of
competition.
We have seen grids that were so full that the final make up had
to be determined by pre-qualifying, and the leaner years when
there was more real competition in the fun fair!
We aim to provide information and news to interest both the
“virgin” and the veteran with links to other sites that will
help you to enjoy the experience too. The site was launched late
in 2001 and we will continue to develop it as we go. We value
your views and look forward to receiving your comments.

I make no apology for mentioning four very special former F.A.R.T.
members. Firstly, Allan Baxter who was so tragically taken from
us. Without him this website would not exist. He designed it and
managed it for us from day one until he had to hand it over.
Archie Gilbert was one of the original Crew members and despite
having virtually no interest in motor racing was great company,
helped, supported and contributed to the full. We miss him.
Stuart Ivins who was able to join the Crew but once, was a cool
customer in the extreme, he may not have shown it but he truly
enjoyed the experience.
Last, but by no means least, Peter Henson, who although he reads
the newsletters and follows our activities, is currently not
able to join us. We hope you will again one day and I’ll buy the
Port!
For those who had the privilege of knowing them, take a moment to
give them and their families a thought once in a while. |
